It’s Friday.\u00a0 Good Friday.\u00a0 It’s always seemed odd to call it “good”.\u00a0 We look back in history and what we see is that Friday is the day when it all came unraveled.<\/p>\n
Twelve young men, some just boys, had spent three years with the Rabbi Jesus.\u00a0 They followed him, learned from him, lived with him, traveled the country with him.\u00a0 They saw him do the miraculous.\u00a0 He healed people: made eyes see, limbs work, freed people from the bondage of illness, demons.\u00a0 He fed thousands with nothing.\u00a0 He taught them in ways that were confusing.\u00a0 He explained the scripture, the Torah, the prophets in ways that blew their minds.<\/p>\n
He commanded the wind to stop.\u00a0 He walked on water.\u00a0 He even raised a man to life who had been dead for three or more days.<\/p>\n
Who is<\/em><\/strong> <\/em>this?\u00a0 Who is this rabbi they followed?\u00a0 Is he…?\u00a0 Could he be… the Messiah?\u00a0 The one they have been waiting for?<\/p>\n Can you imagine over three years, living with this man, this MAN who seemed more like God.\u00a0 Miracles.\u00a0 Healing.\u00a0 Teaching.<\/p>\n What comes next?<\/p>\n Will he overthrow the Romans?\u00a0 Will he restore Israel to a sovereign nation?\u00a0 Will he be king?<\/p>\n And then comes Friday.\u00a0 And he is killed<\/em>.<\/p>\n Killed.\u00a0 Dead.<\/p>\n Now what?!<\/p>\n Does your life ever feel like a season of Good Fridays, one after the other?\u00a0 Anticipation, expectation, hopes, dreams and then all your hopes, dreams are dashed<\/em><\/strong>.\u00a0\u00a0 Destroyed.<\/p>\n Now what?<\/p>\n I have experienced seasons that seem like on going Good Fridays.\u00a0 Everything is unraveled.<\/p>\n But.<\/p>\n My seasons of Good Friday all come after.<\/p>\n After what?<\/p>\n After Sunday.<\/p>\n The<\/em><\/strong> Sunday.<\/p>\n Easter Sunday.<\/p>\n The men who followed Jesus had to live through Good Friday without knowing.\u00a0 They didn’t know.<\/p>\n They didn’t know what was coming.<\/p>\n They didn’t know about Sunday.<\/p>\n But we do.\u00a0 We know what happened.\u00a0 And it changed everything.\u00a0 Backwards and forewards.\u00a0 Sunday changed everything.<\/p>\n EVERYTHING.<\/p>\n And we live after.\u00a0 All our seasons of difficulty, of devastation, come after the resurrection.\u00a0 We know.<\/p>\n We know the victory is won.\u00a0 We know there is forgiveness.\u00a0 We know there is freedom.\u00a0 We know this Rabbi Jesus is a man AND God.<\/p>\n But there’s more.\u00a0 We live after Sunday, but there’s more to come.\u00a0 The hope of living in his presence without any trace of sin, death, pain.\u00a0 We live after Sunday- the Now.\u00a0 But we look forward to the rest- the Not Yet.<\/p>\n I am attaching a link to a great video from a sermon:\u00a0 It’s Friday, but Sunday’s Coming.<\/p>\n
