Al Pacino’s character in the movie And Justice For All<\/em> reached a breaking point at the end. \u00a0He couldn’t live with the broken system anymore. \u00a0He snapped and told the truth in the courtroom, which got him forcibly removed. \u00a0And the movie ends with him sitting on the courthouse steps.<\/p>\n

It leaves me with the question, What next? \u00a0How does one live in a broken world?<\/p>\n

How do I live in a broken world, while I ask God:<\/p>\n

May your kingdom come, May your will be done.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

I ask God- take over, let’s see how it is supposed to look. \u00a0Let’s live by your rules.<\/p>\n

My husband has assured me that we will not see fulfillment of God’s kingdom this side of life.<\/p>\n

So how do I live?<\/p>\n

How do I live when wanting his kingdom to come feels like straining toward an unreachable goal. \u00a0When it feels like I am pushing an immovable object. When I have absorbed so much of the brokenness of the world that I burst out in an “And Justice For All” moment, and have now spent my emotional reserve. \u00a0And I find myself exhausted, sitting on the steps outside the courthouse wondering, \u00a0What next?<\/p>\n

Enter the wise husband. He says I should live according to Micah 6:8…<\/p>\n

He has showed you, (wo)man, what is good and what God requires of you: \u00a0Do Justly. \u00a0Love Mercy. \u00a0Walk humbly with God.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Do justly, no matter what.<\/p>\n

Love mercy, no matter what.<\/p>\n

Walk humbly with God, no matter what.<\/p>\n

There it is. \u00a0Yes, there’s the tripping point for me.<\/p>\n

Walk humbly.\u00a0With God.<\/p>\n

Time to move on. \u00a0No more drama. \u00a0No more ranting. \u00a0Stand up and begin again.<\/p>\n

I don’t know what happened to Al Pacino’s character on the steps of the courthouse. \u00a0I don’t know how he moved on, how he answered the question, How do I live now?<\/p>\n

But as for me, I will begin again. \u00a0To walk humbly.<\/p>\n

Which is only possible if I walk with God.<\/p>\n

May his kingdom come, may his will be done, in my life, just as it is done in heaven.<\/p>\n
