It’s not.<\/p>\n
As I understand it, Tim tries to be quite clear about where his ability, his talent comes from. It is a gift from God. Maybe it’s just an average gift, he’s not really superstar material is he?<\/p>\n
But what ever he has, or doesn’t have, is from God. \u00a0Same as you. \u00a0Same as me.<\/p>\n
You had nothing to do with the fact that you exist. \u00a0You didn’t determine your dna, your looks, your abilities, talents, race, where you would be born, or when. \u00a0 Whatever you are came about apart from you.<\/p>\n
You exist and you live and it is all due to God. You may acknowledge that, you may not. \u00a0Doesn’t change it. \u00a0You are. \u00a0And not because of anything you have done.<\/p>\n
So, football. \u00a0Interesting 8 weeks, eh? \u00a0Seven games, losing in the final minutes. \u00a0And then – victory!<\/p>\n
My husband and I watched the sports announcers fumble around with it this past Sunday. \u00a0They are befuddled, without explanation.<\/p>\n
They say the Broncos are careful to credit the whole team. \u00a0Good. \u00a0Cuz it’s not about Tim Tebow.<\/p>\n
It’s about God.<\/p>\n
How do I know?<\/p>\n
Because I lost an election.<\/p>\n
I ran for the school board. \u00a0And I lost. \u00a0By one vote. \u00a0One. \u00a0I didn’t loose by a landslide, not by a handful. \u00a0I lost by one.<\/p>\n
There was a recount. \u00a0I still didn’t win. \u00a0After the recount I was tied.<\/p>\n
Tied.<\/p>\n
How does Wayne County settle an election result like this? \u00a0Lots are drawn.<\/p>\n
That’s right, lots.<\/p>\n
And then, and only then, did I win a seat on the school board.<\/p>\n
I could hardly claim the victory as my own could I? \u00a0It wasn’t by my suave campaigning. \u00a0It wasn’t by my amazing personality, by my persuasive opinions, by my incredible ideas.<\/p>\n
I won by “chance”.<\/p>\n
Zechariah 4:6 came to mind at that time: “Not by might and not by power, but by my Spirit says the Lord.”<\/p>\n
I served four years on the school board. \u00a0I hope I did a good job. \u00a0I wasn’t on the school board because I was amazing. \u00a0I was on the school board at the pleasure of God and he made that very clear to me at the time.<\/p>\n
I lost. \u00a0By one vote. \u00a0We counted again. \u00a0I was tied. \u00a0We drew lots. I won. \u00a0Not by my might, not by my power. \u00a0It was by God’s Spirit.<\/p>\n
Missed passes, losing score and then at the last possible minute – Victory. \u00a0Tim Tebow, by all accounts, is not overly impressive talent-wise, not the fastest, not the most accurate, not the biggest, not the strongest. \u00a0So, what’s up?<\/p>\n
God. \u00a0Tim desires to be a witness to the power, creation, love, and provision of God. \u00a0Not so we can talk about Tim Tebow, but so we can talk about who Tim Tebow knows – God, the creator of the Universe.<\/p>\n
It has always been about the amazing God.<\/p>\n
God, who designed everything we know. \u00a0God who provided for us. \u00a0God who became a man himself called Yeshua (Jesus), born in Bethlehem.<\/p>\n
